Norse mythology refers to the Scandinavian mythological framework that was upheld during and around the time of the Viking Age (c. 790- c. 1100 CE). Before the Norse (a.k.a. the Vikings) converted to Christianity during the Middle Ages, they had their own vibrant native pagan religion that was as harshly beautiful as the Nordic landscape to which it was intimately connected.

Tomasz Alen Kopera was born in 1976 in Kożuchów, Poland. He attended the University of Technology in Wrocław, where he gained a degree in construction engineering. His artistic talent came to light in early childhood. Highly fascinated with human nature, the surrounding universe and all that is dark and mysterious, Kopera’s works demonstrate both a high degree in sensitivity as well as his desire to touch the subconscious by arousing a need to pause and contemplate in the spectator.

An elf (plural: elves) is a type of humanlike supernatural being in Germanic mythology and folklore. In medieval Germanic-speaking cultures, elves seem generally to have been thought of as beings with magical powers and supernatural beauty, ambivalent towards everyday people and capable of either helping or hindering them.

The short version is, I’m a self-taught freelance artist working professionally since the early nineties. My major influences have been 19th century art, Golden Age Illustration, the Bros. Hildebrandt and even the fantasy films of my youth. For way too many years I worked as a stained glass designer but illustration was all I really wanted to do.
