Tomasz Rut was born in 1961 and raised in Warsaw, Poland. Son of Tadeusz, an Olympic athlete and Wanda, an artist and art teacher, Tomasz was introduced to the world of art in his early childhood and demonstrated prodigious talent, first exhibited at his solo show in Warsaw at the tender age of eleven.

In the course of his formal art studies, Tomasz attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and then continued his training to gain a profound understanding of art history, painting techniques and styles at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he earned his Master’s Degree in art conservation.

Offered his first job by the prestigious Biltmore House in Asheville, NC, Rut employed his skills working on the Estate’s Collection as well as on a number of large scale mural restoration projects for such clients as the Smithsonian Institution and the Treasury Department in Washington, DC, the State House in Trenton, NJ, the Society for the Preservation of the New England Antiquities in Boston, MA, and the Library of the Four Arts in Palm Beach, FL.
