Marek Ruzyk | Marine painter

Marek Rużyk (1965) invites you to his world of light, color and water. Marek Ruzyk creates marine paintings, using oil on canvas technique, often against the backdrop of a dramatic sky – he continues the tradition of marine art from the Romantic Era. While the painter’s marine art pays homage to the battle between nature and manmade ships, humans are largely absent from the pieces, save for a few figures on rafts.

His work recalls a time when man was dependent on the sea, an age of exploration where adventure and danger were intertwined. His works are very reminiscent of the paintings of Ivan Aivazovsky. Ships, plowing seas and oceans, waves breaking on coastal cliffs, shipwrecks, each picture tells a story, allowing the viewer to plunge into the adventure.
