Fukui Ouka ( 福井欧夏 ), is a Japanese realist artist, living and working in Tokyo ( Japan ). Fukui’s work is based on the principle of the “real world” (the model is actually placed in front of the canvas to be painted).
He painstakingly captures each piece of the woman or motif in front of him as if he were spinning it. He spends a lot of time with the living world scenes, and the world he paints seems to transcend all physicality and create an essential “existence”.
The temperature and humidity of the atelier, the flowing of time, the model’s steady breathing and skin tone, words, and even the rubbing sound of the fabric appear in color on the canvas, which is the boundary between the model and Mr. Fukui. The intricate matière of Fukui’s work is one of the real pleasures of his style, which insists on the “real image”.
