Lucy Grossmith’s paintings are inspired by the Suffolk countryside (England) and its wildlife. ”I grew up in the countryside so I have always been surrounded and inspired by nature. One of my favourite things to do is walk…I sketch and make mental notes whilst out and about which then become ingredients for my paintings – a hare dashing across my path, wildflowers swishing in the breeze, birds singing in the hedgerows.

I remember the colours and textures of the landscape, noticing the effects of the changing seasons and weather on everything. I jot down ideas when I get back to the studio at the bottom of my garden, then get to work.

I love to paint wild birds and animals, countryide and coastal scenery along with gardens, old buildings and little bits of country life.
My paintings are a magical interpretation of what I’ve seen mixed in with happy thoughts about a place, illustrating special moments in time. My aim is to inspire others, create a feeling of warmth and capture their imagination too.” Lucy Grossmith
