Paintings by Yousuke Kawashima (川嶋陽介)

Yousuke Kawashima 川嶋陽介 was born in Japan in 1978. While he was still attending High School, he realized his first exhibition.

Kawashima himself describes the main theme of his art as the depiction of an “Unusual Everyday Life”. In 2004 he completed his studies at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, followed by many shows throughout Japan.

Kawashima finds inspiration in his daily encounters. He is aware that every person has different experiences and emotions. His hope is that his paintings can serve as a collective tool of communication to make similarities visible. In his images the artist uses various painting and drawing techniques such as oil paint and tempera and combines them with graphic elements.
