The work of Jennifer Hrabota-Lesser explores the edges of discomfort while maintaining the serene and calm facade expected of modern women. Her work references fables, mythology, social and religious constructs, and where these constructions fail to support the unyielding center.

“ I’m Jennifer Hrabota Lesser and I’m creating a series of paintings inspired and influenced by the myths and folklore thatI love. I am interested in how these stories evolve and adapt to the needs of the times, and reflecting on my relationship to these archetypes. I am particularly interested in the female characters of myth and legend and what they mean to me today. Sometimes the villains of myth become a hero to me and other times the heroes become the villains. My take on these stories is not academic, but an emotional relation to how these stories drive me to examine my own life and the world around me.” Jennifer Hrabota Lesser
